If you believed HtS and people of his political persuasion that Joe Biden was suffering from senile dementia, than you must be overjoyed by Republicans' response to Joe Biden's State of the Union address.

Republicans and conservatives in the news media and on social media are accusing Joe Biden of using some sort of performing enhancement drug or substance. Critics say that Biden was "juiced up" and "amped-up". Sean Hannity calls Biden "Jacked-up Joe" and "hyper-caffeinated".

That is great news. If Biden really had Alzheimer disease but that it's curable with with some drug or maybe just strong black coffee, then many senior citizens and their loved ones will be overjoyed.

Amazingly, Republicans since Thursday have stopped with the "sleepy Joe" talk or accusations of weakness insults. Now they complain that Joe Biden is "too angry" and too energetic.

You think that Joe's stammering, scream-filled ragefest on Thursday night didn't look exactly like dementia?

No, I don’t think it looks like dementia. But if it is dementia, I hope Joltin’ Joe Biden demonstrates more of it.

As I've said, my parents both died with dementia. Dad's journey lasted years. From the time that we began to suspect sumpthin was wrong until he died, it was 8?, 10? years. Mom's journey was cut short by Covid. From the time we started struggling with dad until mom died, was nearly 15 years. They resided in a retirement community... most of those years, among others in various stages of serious cognitive decline.

I've seen a lot of people experiencing dementia. Of course, people with dementia can be meditated so that they become more energetic just as a college kids pulling an all-nighter, studying for a big test.

That was Joe during the speech.

He stumbled over his words as much as ever.

His level of irritability was typical of a demented old man whose dementia turns him nasty.

As I've said, I suspect that Joe's approval polls will bump up ever so slightly between now and Easter... but not much. We'll see.

But, other boomers, like me, have firsthand experience with parents' dementia, or,... people instinctively know that the Joe they saw warnt right.

If you were objective, and not rooting for Joe, I think that, like many others, you'd strongly suspect that Joe was heavily meditated on Thursday night.

For those of us that have gone through it, I think many (to most) of us see what's happening. Instead of being hateful about it, it's more of concern. If not for the country, for him and the family per se. I've said this before. The pressures of the office for four additional years will start mocking him. In awhile, not even his handlers will be able to hide it to his most supportive. I don't think that's the way for him to go out. I'm not sure his family (and handlers) isn't willing to have him look stupid as long as they keep making money.

    OD, HtS,
While I appreciate your concern about Joe Biden's wellbeing, he seems to be enjoying himself. I say let him have his fun for another four years.

  6. by oldedude on March 11, 2024 11:13 am
And I say this is soo fucking much of a disaster the country won't survive if he is.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on March 11, 2024 12:50 pm

    Ultimately, OD, I'm with you.

But, Curt, the temptation to let President Clouseau have another four years is strong. I won't vote for Trump nor that "dithering and diminished" "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" in 024. The No Labels rumors I'm picking up are encouraging. But, I'll vote from the menu of third-party candidates one way or t'other.

Having up to "four more years" of videos of Joe imploring "God save the Queen, man" and talking about "lyin dog-faced pony soldiers" is a cynic's temptation. Joe is having fun in his demented way... and people are laughing, and will be laughing. I'm old. I won't be around to suffer through the consequences of Joe's string-pullers' actions.

But, OD is right. Joe's too much of an EFFINdisaster. In all good conscience, I can't go along with you. But,... spare me four more years of Trump, too.

    HatetheSwamp!

“ I'm old. I won't be around to suffer through the consequences of Joe's string-pullers' actions.”. —HtS

That sounds serious. Did you get a bad medical prognosis?

  9. by HatetheSwamp on March 11, 2024 1:18 pm

No. Not at all. But, I have far fewer years remaining than I've lived. It's a statistical truth.

I wouldn't want to be a thirtysomething having to live four or five decades in the post "dithering and diminished" "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" world.

  10. by HatetheSwamp on March 11, 2024 2:29 pm

Oh. And, BTW. Here in Pennsylvania on Friday, that "dithering and diminished" "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" announced that he's running for EFFINCongress. Same Doddering Old Fool as ever, baha!

He'd win in Philadelphia, for sure.

I doubt if he'd pass "The Villages" vote at all. They understand dementia, and the signs.
